A great way to mix different pattern scales – seen at DVF Spring 2015 Collection by Diane von Furstenberg:
TRY IT:
Have fun taking inspiration from one garment (like trousers) to inform what kind of fabric you pick for your top. A similar pattern in a larger size adds interest, and can help draw the eyes up away from trouble spots like hips and thighs. Use the larger patterned fabric in the areas you want to accentuate!
OPTION:
You can also try this for A-line dress sewing patterns that have a seam at the waistline, too.
Just add belt, sash, or other detail along the seam line (like the yellow sequins shown here), and you’re done!
SHOW YOUR MAD SKILLS:
Did you try this idea? Post it on our Facebook Page . . . We’d love to be inspired by what you did!
